In the spring of 2003, Dopeville was started by Deinde Dawodu and Olmedo Nazati, in Washington D.C. The name Dopeville is a derivative of the classic street vernacular, “ Dope”, Made famous, and forever synonymous with hip-hop youth street culture. From the mid 1980’s to today, “Dope” is a positive expression used to denote a certain level of excellence, coolness, hippness, street savvy, admiration, understanding, and respect. The Ville in Dopeville denotes a place or location. It is not a physical location, but a place within each individual. The Definition of Dopeville is the location of excellence.
